While researching and writing an environmental book and related articles in the mid-nineties, I came across numerous studies indicating that the plastics we all are absorbing and storing in our bodies are probably altering our metabolisms - in ways that are a part of the trend toward obesity.
In other words, the chemicals we all absorb are making us fat.
The evidence for that has only strengthened since that time.
The article I have linked here has more info, plus links to some of the science. http://www.care2.com/greenliving/is-plastic-making-us-fat.html
I have also seen that the political/economic world is structured so that actions to prevent that world-wide absorption process are probably impossible on a national or global scale. For now.
But people can take steps to reduce plastic exposures in their personal lives. Follow that link http://www.care2.com/greenliving/is-plastic-making-us-fat.html to learn more.
